Remedy found in a simple daisy
9/26/2002 5:44:00 AM

The tropical plant, Vernonia anthelmintica, or Purple Fleabane, seems to be a remedy for treating psoriasis, a common skin ailment. This daisy has apparently been used for years in India as a traditional medicine.

Its seeds contain a chemical that stops inflammation, say scientists at Kings College, London. Dr. Amala Raman says they hope to develop a marketable herbal product from this flower.
