Korea's 234th National Assembly in session
Korea’s 234th National Assembly convened Monday. This year the regular 100-day session has been reduced to 30 days to give political parties more preparation before for the December presidential election.
High on the agenda are deliberations on the coming year’s budget bill, annual inspections of government ministries and agencies, and a parliamentary probe into the government’s handling of public funds. However, amid escalating partisan strife between rival parties, analysts fear the floor might turn into a feuding ground between the Grand National Party and the Millennium Democratic Party.
