WASHINGTON D.C. - Dr. Charles Lee [1], a U.S. citizen of Chinese descent, has spent the last two-and-a-half years in a Chinese prison for trying to tell the truth about the CCP’s genocidal campaign against Falun Gong. He has endured torture, brainwashing, and force-feeding. Friends and supporters have used all channels to try to secure his release, to no avail.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government is threatening to cut off all communication with Dr.Lee, including diplomatic visits, if he keeps studying and practicing the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance, the core concepts of Falun Gong.

On July 21, thousands of Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world gathered in front of Capitol Hill in the United States, to protest the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners that has lasted over six years. An Epoch Times reporter interviewed Ms. Fu Yongqing, fiancée of American citizen Dr. Charles Lee.

Ms. Fu’s fiancé is incarcerated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for practicing the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”, and she is very concerned about his safety of Charles Lee. In particular, when she heard that Lee was tortured for not acknowledging the CCP’s persecution, Ms. Fu worried even more.

She told the reporter that Lee was twice tortured to the brink of death. Once he was force fed for protesting the persecution with a hunger strike. This torture method can cause serious pain as one is force fed through the nasal cavity or throat. A victim can choke and die due to violent or untrained insertion by the perpetrator.

On another occasion, Lee was forced to watch a brainwashing program while seated in a fixed posture. He was not allowed to move his head and could only face forward. He was not allowed to move his body either, and was forced to maintain such a posture for four to six hours a day that lasted over a 40-day period. Such physical and mental torture caused Dr. Lee great pain, and resulted in an abnormally increased heart rate. Ms. Fu fears that such treatment by the CCP could cost Dr. Lee his life.

Ms. Fu told the reporter that recently the CCP has escalated the persecution of Dr. Lee, since the torture, force-feeding and forced brainwashing have been ineffective.

Not long ago she was advised by officials in the American Consulate in China, that they had received pressure from the CCP and they would no longer be allowed to pass any information about Falun Gong to Lee. If they did so, all contact with Lee would be cut off, including diplomatic visits to him.

An official from the American Consulate could not help, and told Ms. Fu that they had already reached an agreement in which they had to yield to the CCP.

Both saddened and angered by this, Ms. Fu said that Lee’s fate was closely related to his practice of Falun Gong. He simply believes in “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and Falun Gong is his spiritual life. But now, she said, the CCP is depriving Lee of the only channel by which he could obtain information about Falun Gong, and is essentially attempting to undermine his mental support to lead him to give up his beliefs. She considers this another means of committing murder.

Ms. Fu calls on the American government to resist the CCP’s pressure, and also implores all kind-hearted people to expose and stop the CCP’s atrocities, to rescue Charles Lee and bring him back home as soon as possible.

Note:

[1] American citizen Charles Lee was illegally arrested by the Chinese police at the Guangzhou Airport on January 22, 2003 when he went to China to visit his parents. On January 28, Dr. Lee clearly expressed to an official from the American Consulate in Shanghai, that the reason the Chinese policemen arrested him was that they knew he practiced Falun Gong. The excuse that they used to arrest him was “attempting to interfere with the national television system.”

The CCP has spent a lot of effort with various means trying to brainwash Charles Lee. They forced other prisoners to watch him 24 hours a day, not allowing him to practice the Falun Gong exercises. In addition to being deprived of sleep and forced to attend the brainwashing sessions, Lee was also required to make handicrafts that require technical skill, in order to help the forced labor camp make a profit. He was also violently force fed.
