Market remains volatile, ends flat

Mumbai: The market continued to witness high volatility with erratic movements for the second straight day and today ended flat amid fresh sell-off triggered by strong possibility of a hike in the US interest rates. Swinging in a wide range of 6267.97 and 6173.09, the BSE Benchmark 30-share Index later ended at 6192.35 from previous close of 6194.07, a net fall of 1.72 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), which have turned heavy sellers on bourses, particularly in the futures segment after pumping in record investments in 2004, reported pressed sales on fears of a more aggressive rate hike than expected.
