Congress mulls steps to stabilize oil prices

New Delhi: The Congress party on Saturday said that it was mulling steps to stabilise oil prices, even as the opposition stepped up its protests over the announcement. Congress party officials said the government was doing its best to stabilise domestic oil prices, which were raised on Thursday. The federal government raised the price of petrol by nearly six percent and that of diesel by nearly nine percent in a bid to align the prices with global trends.
