White collars’ salary is 15 times that of blue collars

A recent study shows that the average monthly income of 70% of business workers in Mainland China is between 800 yuan (US $97) to 2,500 yuan (US $302), with the senior management staff earning three to 15 times the salary of the average enterprise worker. The report also shows that more than 70 percent of the Chinese enterprise workers are satisfied with their salaries, and the most unsatisfied are the employees of state-run enterprises.
Hong Kong-based Singtao Daily reported that the Chinese State Council Research and Development Center’s Enterprise Research Institute has completed a one-year study on the Chinese enterprises’ human resources management. The study included more than 2,000 enterprises, and is the most comprehensive report on Chinese enterprise human resources management to date.
The report mentioned that 72.2 percent of Chinese enterprise workers are either satisfied, very satisfied or extremely satisfied with their current salary, while the other 27.3 percent of the survey respondents were unsatisfied and very unsatisfied.
Workers in different types pf businesses - the state-owned enterprise and the state-owned stock-option enterprise – are less satisfied with their salaries, with 28.9 percent of the respondents being unsatisfied.
It is reported that 70.8 percent of the Chinese enterprise workers’ monthly salary is between 800 to 2,500 yuan. The largest income bracket is 1,200 yuan to 1,800 yuan, comprising 27.4 percent of the respondents.
The report also showed that the average enterprise worker’s monthly salary is highest in the eastern regions, then the western regions and finally the middle regions. The eastern region’s enterprise workers’ monthly salary is between 800 to 2,500 yuan; while in the middle and western areas, it is between 800 and 1,800 yuan.
