South Korean GNP chairman to step down

Choe Byung-yul will soon step down as chairman of the Grand National Party (GNP), South Korea’s conservative party. At a recent press conference in Yeouido, Choe proposed a party convention be held soon in which a new chairman would be elected and a “New Grand National Party” will be born. The party convention will occur in mid-March, according to Chief Secretary Lim Tae-hee.
