Millions of kids given polio drops

New Delhi: Millions of children were administered polio drops on Sunday in a bid to eradicate the disease from the country. The drive is part of the government's long-runnning campaign against the crippling disease. Alarmed at the resurgence of the disease last year, the government has re-launched the pulse polio programme to reach the global target of a polio-free world by the year 2005. People were seen standing in long queues with their children in the various polio camps put up by the authorities. "I always come here to get my child vaccinated. We should support this initiative taken by the government as it is good for the children. It is a commendable effort, "said Rajesh Gupta, a father who brought his child to the vaccination camp.
