BJP takes credit for economic boom

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took the credit for pushing the country on the path of economic boom.A strong "feel good" factor propelled by an expected over eight percent GDP growth rate, besides a morale boosting win in state polls in December, has prompted the BJP-led ruling coalition to gamble with an early national election. BJP spokesman Arun Jaitley said that their policies made Indian economy one of the fastest growing in the world. "Reserves are swelling. Currency is strong. Exports are growing. In service sector, the most powerful economy in the world, the U.S. is today feeling threatened by job cross overs to India. Even in manufacturing sector, there are now segments which are growing rapidly. And we believe, one of the principal reason why the economy got this fillip is because of the govenrment's, BJP's, particularly the Prime Minister's support behind the crucial economic decisions we have taken," Arun Jaitley told reporters in New Delhi.
