Maruti says 27 percent staff accepts VRS: BSE

Gurgaon: Around 1250 employees in the country's car major Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) have opted for a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) recently offered by the company. A press release issued on Monday said that after the VRS scheme the staff has been cut short by around 27 percent to 3355 employees. "There were 4606 employees in the company prior to the launch of the scheme. On account of the VRS, the number came down to 3355 employees," it said. The VRS was offered in two phases for non-unionised and unionised workers. According to the release, a total of 276 non-unionised employees like supervisors, executives and managers opted for the first phase of the scheme during September 22 and October 18.
