India joins U.S.-led hydrogen economy initiative

New Delhi:India has joined a U.S.-led initiative to develop hydrogen fuel that will cost as much as petrol. M.Kannappan, the Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources, disclosed this in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. In a written reply, the Upper House was informed that the country had signed the terms of references for the International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy (IPHE) on November 20.According to a news report, a total of 14 countries including the United States, the European Union, Russia, China, Brazil and Iceland are members of the IPHE.
