Voting ends peacefully in Mizoram

Aizawl:Barring a few incidents of violence, polling by and large was peaceful in Mizoram with 60 per cent of the voters exercising their franchise for the 40-member assembly. In one incident, an angry mob destroyed electronic voting machines and other poll material in the remote Suangpuilawn constituecy last night following the kidnapping of three main candidates of the constiuency by Hmar militants. However, the poll percentage was not final and the Chief Electoral Office will take some time to arrive at the final figure as reports from remote parts were yet to come in.
