Assembly poll dates announced

New Delhi:The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party faces a critical test when four key opposition-held states go to the polls on December 1 in a dress rehearsal for national elections due next year. Chief Election Commissioner J.M Lyngdoh told reporters on Monday in New Delhi that Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh would elect new state assemblies on December 1 and the smaller state of Mizoram on November 20. "Date of polls-for Mizoram 20/11, others 1/12. Counting for Mizoram 2/12, others 4/12. Dates before which the election shall be complete-Mizoram 9/12, others 11/12," Lyngdoh said.
