Muslims burn Musharraf effigies on Dussehra

New Delhi: Dozens of Muslim activists burnt effigies of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf here on Sunday. Equating Musharraf with the demon-king Ravana whose death is being celebrated as Dussehra festival as the victory of good over evil, the activists blamed him for sponsoring terror activities in Kashmir. "We wanted to show the world that we are peace loving people. We want terrorism to end, especially in Kashmir where innocent people are being killed. Musharraf is a Ravana and this is why we are burning his effigies to show our anger against him," Azhar Shagoofa, president of the women's wing of the Akhil Bharatiya Muslim Front, said. Nearly a dozen militant groups are fighting New Delhi's rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
