U.S. Secretary of Defense predicts Korea's freedom

U.S. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld stated at a meeting with the U.S.-Korea Business Council on Tuesday that the North Korean people will soon abandon Communism and gain back their freedom and "land with hope and promise."

The U.S. plans to move some of its roughly 37,000 defense troops away from the Demilitarized Zone but ensures that this move will not lessen its defense of the South from the North. This year marks the 50th anniversary since the end of the Korean War when U.S. troops were first sent to defend the South Korean border and also the establishment of the U.S.-South Korean alliance.
