Ebara Jitsugyo Co Ltd., a subsidiary of Japanís top manufacturer of industrial pumps, Ebara Corp., will launch its new ACE-5000 air purification system on April 15. This is an earlier than expected launch brought on by the increasing worry over the quickly spreading SARS virus. Though Japan has not yet reported any cases of the deadly virus, many people have enquired about the new system and hospitals are ready to take any precautions. The new Ebara system uses ultraviolet light to kill viruses and bacteria, unlike regular purification systems that just trap them with filters. In theory, this new system will transform a regular hospital room into an isolation ward at low cost. Ebaraís new system will sell for $14,200.
