Regarding North Korea’s apparent plans for nuclear reactivation, South Korean President Kim Dae-jung is stressing patience as the key to resolving the nuclear crisis. Most recently, Pyongyang has mentioned the possibility of withdrawing from the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty. Similar to Kim, President-elect Roh Moo-hyun intends to use peaceful negotiations and diplomacy to address the nuclear arms dilemma. He will discuss this at an upcoming meeting in Daejeon with high-level officials of the South Korean Army, Navy, and Air Force.
